Gross Motor Skills Intervention

  • Gross motor skills sessions can help children develop the ability to use big movements of their body for functional tasks. These sessions can help children develop the underlying skills of their body strength, balance, and ability to use two sides of the body together.

This can then help with the development of functional tasks such as throwing and catching skills, the ability to hop, skip, and jump or learning to ride a bike. Supporting children to learn these skills can help them to access P.E. or leisure activities.

In working on both the underlying difficulties alongside the specific functional task children can make great progress with their gross motor skills.

  • Sessions working on the development of gross motor skills can be completed in the home or school setting. A mix of both home and school can also be completed as required.
